For nearly 30 years, Solar Energy International (SEI) has been dedicated to training the global solar energy workforce. Instrumental in SEI’s curriculum is a Blue Ion battery with a recently-upgraded monitoring system, donated by Blue Planet Energy, enabling new digital training possibilities for future solar workforces.

The safety of an energy storage system doesn’t have to be a guessing game. Both customers and installers can take comfort by choosing UL-rated systems and installing to National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards. Although energy storage standards from both organizations are relatively young (UL 9540 began in 2016; NFPA 855 in 2020), they received input from hundreds of stakeholders, including engineers, manufacturers, first-responders and safety policymakers — all in an effort to prevent loss of life and property.

The Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA) is a nonprofit dedicated to educating communities on renewable energy and sustainable living. Year-round, MREA teaches best practices for living an environmentally-friendly lifestyle and offers professional training for those looking to join the clean energy workforce. To bring greater awareness of the energy storage technologies available in the market, Blue Planet Energy donated its Blue Ion HI battery system to be showcased in MREA’s energy storage lab.

California and Puerto Rico sit on opposite sides of the US; these regions are also are vastly different. In many ways, Puerto Rico resembles an emerging economy similar to other Caribbean islands in the vicinity. California, in contrast, is often held up poster child of the new digital economy.

The recently-announced Earthshot Ventures is spinning out from Hawaii and California-based Elemental Accelerator to invest in entrepreneurs solving climate challenges around the world. The fund raised $60 million from entities like McKinley Alaska Private Investment, who is joined by well known organizations like Emerson Collective, Microsoft, Impact Engine, and others.

In Oregon, earthquakes and fires are the biggest disaster worry, and the Oregon Military Department (OMD) wants to be ready with a newly deployed military microgrid in the city of Dallas that can provide power to the Colonel Nesmith Readiness Center and community members for up to 14 days during outages.
