2022: It Takes “Two”gether

In 2022, Blue Planet Energy delivered over 6 GWh of energy through their solutions to various projects, including the Shungnak microgrid in Alaska which won Solar Builder Magazine's Microgrid Project of the Year. The company also celebrated their team's accomplishments at the RE+ Conference and continued to support impactful projects such as Corte Paz in Colombia and Fundación Bucarabón in Puerto Rico.

Open up your 2022 Wrapped playlist and while you listen to your ‘Top Songs’ and “Top Artists’ let’s take a drive down memory lane. Buckle up because this will be a wild, scenic ride!

This year we continued with our mission of enabling energy independence. Thanks to our team and many partners we surpassed several milestones and achieved many great things! Here’s a few that made us stop in our tracks:

POWERED UP

Ranging from Radio Stations in New Mexico to off-grid homes in the Colorado mountains and entire communities in Puerto Rico the Blue Planet Energy solutions powered a lot and continued to do so. Many projects went live this year and collectively with all Blue Planet Energy solutions installed, we delivered more than 6 GWh of energy across the planet (and increasing as you read this).

BRIGHT ROAD AHEAD FOR REMOTE COMMUNITIES

Awarded Solar Builder Magazine’s Microgrid Project of the Year, the remote village of Shungnak, Alaska has lessened its dependence on diesel generators with a hybrid solar and storage microgrid, utilizing 12 Blue Ion LX enclosures with a total capacity of 384 KWh. The award and recognition came to us as a wonderful surprise and helped to celebrate Shungnak’s one year of operation.

TOGETHER FOR THE JOURNEY

After two years, our team celebrated together in Anaheim, California during the RE+ Conference. A first of many including the in-person debut of our Blue Ion HI and Blue Ion LX, a fireside chat with our Founder Henk Rogers, and a thank you celebration with our partners. RE+ wasn’t just a place for us to showcase our solutions to the industry but an opportunity for our team to get to know one another IRL - a refreshing contrast to years of screens and virtual meetings.

HELPING OTHERS GET TO THEIR DESTINATION

These projects deserve a pit stop. Engrained in our core mission, we choose to be a part of impactful projects. Two that truly stood out are organizations that make a difference in their communities and beyond.

  • Corte Paz, a cocoa processing farm which represents an industry of stable economic growth and security in the Tumaco, Colombia region.
  • Fundación Bucarabón, a non-profit in Maricao, Puerto Rico, supporting women and girls in their educational development through activities of economic and social empowerment, business activity, and entrepreneurial capacity.

And that’s a wrap- we look forward to our 2023 journey and having you a part of the ride!
